“ParaNorman”, much like it’s predecessor “Coraline”, is a stop-motion animated film. For those of you who don’t know what that means, let me try and break it down for you: Basically each character, set, prop, etc. is all created individually with dozens if not hundreds of accessories, and for each scene to be shot they set up all the characters and props on their handmade sets, take a picture, then move everything just a tiny bit before taking another picture, and so on and so forth. It’s a tedious and grueling process that the Laika team put their heart and souls into in order to create beautiful results such as “Coraline” and now “ParaNorman”.
In fact they loving doing it SO MUCH that they created these two commercials specifically for the 2012 Olympics! Check out some awesome zombie gymnastics and diving below, courtesy of “ParaNorman” which will be in theaters on August 17th.
