You guys, I don’t even know where to begin with this.
First and foremost I want to say that I first read about this on People Magazine’s website. From that moment there was no convincing me that there wasn’t even just an inkling of truth to it because let’s be honest: When it comes to the weeklies, People Magazine is rarely a source for bullshit. They are the single most credible weekly magazine in existence, and because of that they have a reputation to uphold. My friend Brian from BEST Blog said to me last night on the phone that People Magazine has never had to issue an apology or retraction – and while I can’t rule out ‘ever’ I did a Google search and could not find a single apology from them which only further backs up Brian’s statement.
That being said, last night there were mixed feelings all over social media about this. Gossip mongers such as myself were salivating over their laptops trying to take it all in, and diehard “Robstenites” as they are called were tweeting obscenities at both Us Weekly and People Magazine. Word on the internet is that the picture on Us Weekly’s cover this week is photo shopped – the Robstenites are saying that it is a candid of Rupert Sanders and his wife Liberty Ross that Us Weekly posted Kristen Stewart’s face onto. While given Us Weekly’s history with photo shop this is not exactly a stretch, but no one can seem to produce an original photo. No one. When I asked for one on Twitter last night I was linked to THIS picture which is apparently the picture people are saying was used to paste onto the candid, but I stared at that picture long and hard last night and I have to say that while it is definitely close – it’s not exact. And not in the way that photo shop can alter, either.
What actually matters is this: Even if that photo on the cover of Us Weekly this week is in fact photo shop magic, they have already released a statement that they have EXCLUSIVE photos from July 17th of Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders making out that will be printed in this weeks issue. They never once said that picture on the cover was taken on July 17th or that it was part of the set of candids that are currently printing in a factory somewhere. Here’s the statement:
On July 17 in L.A., the 26-year-old actor’s girlfriend and Twilight costar, Kristen Stewart, 22, was caught by photographers in a series of steamy rendezvous with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders, 41 — and the new issue of Us Weekly has the exclusive photos and details.
Sanders — married to British Vogue model Liberty Ross, 33 — has two children, ages 7 and 5. During his marathon makeout session with Stewart, “it seemed like they couldn’t get enough,” according to one photographer.
You can read it for yourself on UsMagazine.com. So nothing matters until I hold that Us Weekly magazine in my hand, and I can’t even remember the last time I actually purchased an issue of Us Weekly.
Liberty Ross deleted her Twitter last night (@rossliberty) shortly after people realized she even had one. Her last tweet was “WOW” posted Monday evening, and the last account she had followed was, not-so-ironically I’m sure, Us Weekly. There is also THIS screen cap from her Instagram which has also been deleted floating around the internet of a drunk Snow White with the caption: “Not so pretty or so pure after all…” Awkward.
There is also the fact that Kristen Stewart kind of, sort of, maybe has a little history of things like this. Remember Michael Angarano? Kristen Stewart was dating former “Speak” co-star Michael Angarano for years up until ‘New Moon’ – and I’ll be honest, I don’t know if it happened during ‘New Moon’ filming, promo, or in betwen – before she ditched him for (at the time) co-star Robert Pattinson who was rumored to be dating/flinging with their other co-star and Kristen’s BFF Nikki Reed. It’s a lot of drama to encompass, I know. Let us not forget that some how, some way… Nikki Reed received ALL the flack for that. But, that’s neither here nor there any more as Nikki Reed has moved on and is very happily married to Paul MacDonald now.
Oh, and one more thing: All of the “sources” quoted on People Magazine’s site are painting Kristen almost like the victim, no? Here’s their sources quote:
“Kristen is absolutely devastated. It was a mistake and a complete lapse in judgment. She wasn’t having an affair with Rupert. It was just a fleeting moment that shouldn’t have happened. She never meant to hurt anyone. She’s a good person who just made a bad choice.”
The full article is here. I don’t know why they wrote ‘source’ when this is so clearly someone from Kristen’s team. This SCREAMS damage control. You can read it on PeopleMag.com.
I have said many times to my friends that I did not think “Robsten” as they are (were?) so affectionately called by their fans was a forever thing because of the fact that Kristen Stewart seemingly has a co-star fetish, and I’ve got to pat my self on the back for being close. A director might not be a co-star, but it’s still a co-worker. Old habits die hard.
The real victims here are Robert Pattinson and, of course, Rupert Sanders and Liberty Ross’s two small children. Rob seems like a really good guy who is probably devastated right now, and who knows what will even happen with Rupert and his wife Liberty.
However, I can not wait to see those pictures!
